Roland Maples' life, career and passions have been shaped by his love of sport, the thrill of competition and the satisfaction of person to person engagement. His 50+ years involvement with golf began at an early age and evolved to included competitive play at the collegiate level (College of Alameda) where he was the team’s leading point producer. He remains a strong force in the competitive golfing community as a playing member of several golf clubs including the Hackers Unlimited Golf Club, Western States Golf Association and The Maples Club. The latter which he started with his brother 14 years ago.
Roland has tirelessly contributed to competitive sport in the Bay Area for decades. In addition to serving as the coach for both basketball and golf at Berkeley High School, he has provided competitive golf opportunities for the Bay Area golfing community through his leadership as a golf Tournament Director for more than 37 years. His focus has been attracting golfers from all backgrounds to create a strong, diverse atmosphere that promotes brotherhood and true competition. Roland is retired from a distinguished 36-year career in the US Postal Service. |
